Determine To Be Courageous

· Courage,Trust,Determination

Joshua 1:9 (Amp) “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

I often learn a lot from my own kids and the children God has placed around me. In Kidz church this month, we have been studying determination. Wow, what an appropriate topic for our home this month! “Determination is deciding it’s worth it to finish what you started.” Whenever my kids start something whether it is a sport, an instrument, or some activity, I make them finish a semester, a season, etc. I don’t let them just give up halfway thru. As a child, I started so many things and quit for various reasons. It is something that I was determined not to let my own kids do.

This past year our youngest daughter started a theatre and dance academy. She truly found her passion. At the beginning of this semester, our little lady auditioned for a specific lead role. When she received it, it shocked her a little bit because there were others with more experience. Eight weeks into the semester with lots of hard work and dedication, she comes running into my room saying, “I am now confident that I can take on another lead role again.”

She was also challenged by a teacher to take a dance class that would stretch her. Two classes into it with girls who had been together the semester prior, she came home very discouraged and unable to catch on like the others. We prayed and I asked her if she wanted to drop down to the level below. She responded, “No, I want to get it.” We scheduled one private lesson to help her out. Needless to say, there were no more tears the rest of the time.

The play and dance recital has now ended. She soared thru the performances and shined on that platform with elegance, grace, and confidence knowing God was with her. He is the one that has given her these gifts and talents so He will get the glory as she is obedient to step out into His plans and purposes for her life.

In the story of Joshua, God told him to take new territory and Joshua had the confidence to step out into it because he knew God was with him. What has God called you to do today? What new land is He asking you to take? Keep your eyes on the word, walk it out with confidence and determination knowing God is with you wherever you go. He will make your way prosperous and successful.
