Are You Satisfied?

· Joy,Blessed,Satisfied

“Blessed (joyful, nourished by God’s goodness are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness (those who actively seek right standing with God), for they will be (completely) satisfied.” -Matthew 5:6 (Amp)

Wow, this verse says that we can be satisfied not just a little bit but completely! The word satisfied means, fulfilled or meeting the expectations, needs, or desires of someone. Who doesn’t want to live their life fulfilled? That’s what God wants to do for us!

We are made righteous (in right standing) with God when we ask Jesus to come into our lives. Jesus paid the penalty on the cross for our sins. He bridged the gap for us to have a relationship with God. So what does it mean to “actively seek” right standing with God? In John 6:35, “Jesus replied, I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to me will never be hungry, and he who believes in, cleaves to, trusts in and relies on Me will never thirst any more (at any time).” He wants us to “believe in, cleave to, trust in, and rely on” Him for everything in our lives. God doesn’t want to just be our Savior. He wants to be the Lord of our life which means that we have to “actively seek” Him.

As most of us know, sin separates us from a relationship with God but maybe it’s not some open sin that we are dealing with but rather a lack of time that we are spending with Him. It’s really hard to have an intimate relationship with someone that we don’t spend time with. I know in seasons of my life that I have allowed “time” or “busyness” to be a stealer of my relationship with God. In those times, I feel empty, discontented, unhappy, and let’s be honest flat out grumpy. I’m not joyful to be around. See last week’s meal will not satisfy todays hunger! That is why in Matthew 6:35, Jesus says, “Give us today our daily bread.” As we “actively seek” Him today, He will give us everything that we need to be completely satisfied. God has given us a free will and a choice. We can choose daily to live filled up!
